On the way to the Red Cross Evacuation Center at Carmel Middle School, driving down carmel grade, we spotted the main smoke towers and the trailing plume running southeast from Big Sur and shrouding Jamesburg once again.
In an otherwise clear sky, it's a stark reminder of the seriousness, unpredictability and ferocity of a wildlands blaze.
