No mandatory evacuation order imminent

July 11, 2008, about 9:00 pm...

Just back from the Community Fire Information Meeting, held at 6:00 pm at Tularcitos School in Carmel Valley.

I'll have audio up on KUSP tomorrow and notes from the meeting sometime tonight. But the bottom line is that, for the moment, the evacuation ADVISORY for our area has been upgraded to a VOLUNTARY evacuation - and, as of now, there is nothing imminent that would turn the VOLUNTARY evacuation order into a MANDATORY evacuation order.

More to come, so tune in a bit later!!!

Mira!

On the way home this evening, a group looking like they were removing the telescope and its mount from Mira Observatory broke down just past the Cachagua Grade turnoff. I stopped to ask if they needed help, but they had all that they required.

I hope the observatory survives!
