Fire Info Meeting, Cachagua Community Park...

July 6, 2008, about 5:30 pm...

Sgt. Burns of the Monterey County Sheriff's Office, Jerry McGowan, Incident Commander for the eastern side of the Basin Complex fire, U.S. Fire Service Public Information Officer Connie Chaney and Cachagua Fire Information Officer Rod McMahon spoke to a crowd of nearly 200 Jamesburg/Cachaguans about the status of the fire, security and evacuation preparedness, as the very aerial suppression tactics Jerry was describing, happened overhead.

A recording of the meeting is posted on KUSP's website.

A Cal Fire Super Huey heads for the ridgeline northwest of Cachagua Community Park, and during the Fire Information Meeting, trailing a plume of water from its bambi bucket.

The big DC10 in action on the way to spread retardant. The lead plane is a considerable distance in front of the aircraft, guiding the less-than-maneuverable air tanker to the drop zone.

Many people make a big mistake of hiring untrained, unlicensed Fire Watch Guards companies. Unfortunately, there's a lot of unscrupulous individuals that have been known to prey on vulnerable individuals and their families.
